Another successful term in the books for Epsilon Iota – A. This term was marked with constant improvements as social restrictions caused by the pandemic began to loosen up.
Pledge Class of 2022 Initiated
A warm welcome to our newly initiated brothers.
Top row, from left to right: Will Garbutt, Nathan Zimmerman, Chris Battiste, and Devin Losh.
Bottom row, from left to right: Ricky Schafer, Emilio Lord, Owen Ankley, Ian Ramanata , Jace ‘Nub’ Hund, and Mason Warner.
We’re excited to see what these guys will bring to our summer rush. They are frat and full of potential.
House Renovations
This term the undergrad GMT representatives hosted a work weekend in which every member focused on cleaning and fixing the house for an entire weekend. Below are some of the house renovations completed this term.
Dining room ceiling was redone. Undergrads worked tirelessly to remove the old ceiling tiles in our dining room. Contractors then mudded over the ceiling. This is a much cleaner look for the dinning room and even increased the height of the ceiling by about a half inch.
A/C closet completed. Shelves were built in the closet located at the bottom of the basement stairs to efficiently store our many air conditioning units. This project will hopefully help to protect our A/Cs from any physical damage caused by improper storage.
The historian closet was cleaned out and fortified. All historical documents are now properly stored for preservation. A keypad deadbolt was installed on the closet to provide security.
Community Service
We had a large increase in community service involvement this term. Many community service opportunities disappeared during the pandemic but our community service chairmen, Harman Ladd, worked hard to provide the chapter with new community service opportunities.
We gave back to our local community by cleaning up liter and debris along Dupont street. We also had multiple events with the Flint Children’s Museum helping them prepare for upcoming events or just general maintenance projects.
Athletics and Campus Involvement
This term we suffered heavy casualties in volleyball and futsal intramurals. We saw much more success in basketball and even beat an athletic focused fraternity that rhymes with bikes. Glaserball and pool were played nonstop to keep our minds off the relentless schoolwork.
Our chapter saw a newfound appreciation for campus involvement this term. Brother Adam Coon has taken on a leadership position for the Kagle leadership initiative, where he organizes workshops to educate local students of Flint. Brother Emilio Lord joined Kettering DECA’s E-Board and plans to remain active in the club.
